An assembly that looks at the importance of communication skills and how employers value it. Also includes ways pupils can improve their skills through lessons and a challenge for them to complete over the following week. I have included a snap shot of an inspirational story with a video link but this can easily be left out and discussed instead. Finally there are references to growth mindset throughout.

An assembly that explores the idea of being the first humans to set up a colony on Mars. It covers what NASA is doing to prepare (a short clip on a website is included) and looks at the preparation of astronauts and potential living conditions on the red planet. References to the Mars One programme is also included. Would suit all ages as can be adapted and requires interaction with the children in the audience through questioning.

An assembly that can be aimed at pupils from KS2 upwards. Explores the idea of friendship through real life stories and the many different ways it can manifest. Themes explored include friendship in times of extremes (POW camp), Olympic athletes and also historical using a story from ancient Greece. A selection of revision activities (from the old spec), exercises and lessons to help you in the final build up to the exam. Easily adaptable for the new Edexcel spec. Includes: - An exploration of the exam paper questions - Group and individual revision topics - A pre-exam quiz to test knowledge

Use this with your History, Geography and RE classes to help them remember key spelling, punctuation and grammar areas to look for in their work. Easy to remember in time for the exam or get them practicing in KS3 in readiness. Print them off and laminate them. Distribute after any extended writing task and give them just five minutes to use it to check their work. By the time the exam arrives they should remember some of the key areas to watch out for when they read through their answers.

A philosophic assembly based around the question: What could you do right now that your future self would thank you for? Lots of thinking here for your pupils! Also includes references to a bucket list and then back to how pupils could make changes now in school to help them later.
